As a classical philologist specializing in ancient theater, Kyriaki (Yria) has collaborated with theatrical institutions in Cyprus and abroad as a dramatist, director and academic advisor. Her engagement with performance focuses on the theoretical and practical background of the concept of fragmentation in contemporary theatrical practice, studying it in the light of both cognitive science and neuroscience, as well as contemporary stage direction and play-writing.
The main aim of her research is to examine the different ways, techniques and methods that can be used by contemporary stage direction in order to present excerpts of ancient Greek comedy on the theater stage. Kyriaki is a member of the artistic group Persona, while she also works as a Cultural Officer at the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Culture of Cyprus. She is also an external collaborator of the international research project "Kommentierung der Fragmente der griechischen Komödie" of the University of Freiburg and the Academy of Heidelberg, in the framework of which she will publish the volume Fragmenta Comica 24.4.
